Wescott Clubhouse - Connecting Indoor Comfort With Outdoor Living
“Daylight reveals color; artificial light drains it.”
- Helena Rubinstein
Everyone knows there is importance in experiencing natural light, but few understand just how far the impact goes. In addition to lifting mood and happiness, daylight drastically increases productivity and focus when compared to artificial lighting. With the newly designed Wescott Clubhouse, 510 Architects decided to bring this concept to life.
Wescott Clubhouse, a newly constructed amenity center for a single-family home community, features conference rooms, a kitchenette, and an outdoor patio – all centered around a massive glass-walled lounge area. The goal of this project was to create an alluring peaceful space for members of the community to relax, work, study, or just hang out.
To accomplish the dream of bringing a huge amount of daylight into an indoor area and creating one cohesive space with the outdoor patio HHHunt, 510 architects, ONeil Engineering Services and Lynch Mykins Structural Engineers partnered with UrbanCore Construction and ModernDoor to construct a large glass three-sided glass structure to serve as the exterior walls for the indoor lounge area. The main glass curtain wall, a YCW 750 OG courtesy of YKK AP America, Inc. includes a matching six-panel horizontal folding ActivWall door that slides completely out of the way to form a single spacious opening to the exterior space. In addition to a glass garage-style door and several carefully placed windows throughout the building, the conference room features 2 full storefront-style glass walls, bringing light and an attitude of productivity into the room.
Overall, the architects and builders involved in this project did a phenomenal job of putting together a perfect space for the people of the community to enjoy whether at work or play or anything in between.
